App comparison

Nelby or Motivation: a reminder or a next step?

Choose Motivation first if you want a short quote to meet you during the day. Consider Nelby if you want to open a selected message and work through an exercise or a question. The useful distinction is what you need after reading, not whether one app sounds more profound.

What we are comparing

This comparison is published by Nelby. We checked official descriptions and Apple listings on 9 September 2026; we did not run a hands-on trial of Motivation or measure outcomes. The methodology linked below explains that boundary.

At that date, our public French Apple listing still showed Éclo version 1.1.1. Nelby is the upcoming name and release described on this site. The planned optional one-time Premium purchase must not be mistaken for an offer already available in that public version. Check the name, version and purchase sheet before downloading or buying.

Choose the format you actually want

Motivation presents a quote-led experience, including widgets and topics. Nelby uses an existing library selected with information from your profile; its four content depths include practical exercises and longer reflections. That selection is not a live conversation about your situation.

A short quote can be exactly enough. Conversely, opening a longer message does not make the advice more accurate or better suited to you. Read a real example and ask whether it adds a useful distinction you had missed.

A deadline example: cue or clarification?

Here is an example written for this article, not a quotation or exercise taken from either app. You have delayed asking a colleague for a document needed tomorrow. If you already know what to ask, a reminder may be all you need: send the request now. A further reflection session might merely postpone the email.

But suppose you are stuck because you think asking will make you look unprepared. Your missing step is different. Write the exact information you need, why the colleague holds it, and the latest useful delivery time. Then draft a specific request: “Could you send the approved figures by 3 pm? I need them to finish the summary.”

The distinction is not “quotes versus real help.” It is whether you need to remember an action or understand what is preventing it. Neither app knows this colleague’s availability or can establish whether your request is reasonable.

A small comparison you can make yourself

Use one ordinary situation rather than judging two home screens. Before opening an app, finish this sentence: “After this, I want to be able to…” Choose an observable result, such as naming the question to ask or sending the message.

  1. Inspect a real sample in the language you will use. Do not substitute the promotional headline for the content.
  2. Identify one thing the sample changes: a next action, a useful question, or simply a welcome reminder.
  3. If it adds nothing useful, stop. You do not owe either app a routine merely because you installed it.

What should settle the purchase decision

Motivation’s Apple listing shows a free download with in-app purchases. We have not verified which current offer would appear on your device. Likewise, our upcoming lifetime model is a release plan, not a valid reason to ignore the current Éclo purchase terms.

For a quote-led need, Motivation is the closer starting point. For selected exercises, compare Nelby’s examples with what you already use. If a note on your phone reliably reminds you to act, keeping that note may be the most useful decision. Language listings establish declared support, not the quality of every translation.

Where Nelby fits

Consider Nelby when returning to a selected question or saving a useful library message would help you continue a reflection. Choose Motivation when the desired product is the short reminder itself. Neither format establishes a therapeutic benefit.

Nelby is the upcoming version of Éclo. The version currently available on the App Store is still called Éclo and offers subscriptions.
