Nelby data and privacy: what is verified, and what to check
An app can store a profile on a device and still use third-party services. There is also an important version distinction here: the public Éclo privacy policy is dated 29 August 2025, while this page examines code prepared for the upcoming Nelby version. Those sources do not fully agree. Neither proves the exact traffic of the app currently installed on your phone.
Profile storage is one part of the picture
The reviewed code for the upcoming Nelby version uses the device’s Keychain for profile storage, with a UserDefaults fallback. This describes an implemented path, not a verified production data flow. It does not establish every backup behavior, retention period or transfer in the current Éclo release.
Likewise, the content library is bundled with the app, but that does not mean all features work without a connection. Purchasing or restoring access involves services beyond reading a stored message. We do not make an all-features-offline promise here.
The app also includes third-party measurement and purchases
The reviewed upcoming implementation includes Firebase Analytics, Meta’s SDK and RevenueCat. It defines usage and conversion events, including questionnaire completion, calls to action and purchases. We therefore cannot describe that implementation as having no third-party measurement. This observation does not establish which events are transmitted by the currently distributed version.
A source-code review does not prove that every defined event is sent in every situation, or describe all processing performed by a provider. Exact collection, settings and retention need to be read in the applicable policy and verified for the running version. We do not fill those gaps with an anonymity guarantee.
The older policy needs to be distinguished from the new code
The public policy describes OpenAI-assisted generation, iCloud storage and no advertising tracking. Those statements do not match all the mechanisms found in the upcoming source. We are flagging the discrepancy rather than claiming either document is a complete account of current processing.
Until the policy is aligned and runtime behavior checked, do not rely on an assurance of no advertising measurement, universal iCloud synchronization or a verified deletion deadline for Nelby. For a decision involving sensitive information, ask the publisher to clarify the applicable version and data category first.
A visible screen is a separate privacy question
Widgets and notification previews may show text selected by the app. Even without a name or a full profile, a theme on a shared screen may be something you prefer other people not to see. Consider that visible exposure separately from data sent to a service.
Before enabling those surfaces, look at the actual preview on your device. Keep or disable it according to your own setting: a personal phone, a shared workspace or a screen frequently visible to others may lead to different choices.
The website and app are different services
This website provides articles without asking for a profile or payment. Its website privacy notice describes its own hosting and technical processing. That notice is not a substitute for the app policy, which is linked below and currently uses the Éclo name.
For a question the policy does not answer clearly, contact [email protected]. Ask about the exact category that matters to you—for example profile answers, analytics events, purchase identifiers or deletion—rather than relying on a general “is it private?” assurance.
Decide according to your own requirement
If your requirement is no third-party analytics, the inspected integrations mean we cannot recommend Nelby on that basis. If your concern is another category, check that category specifically before entering unnecessary personal detail or making a purchase.
We have not established a complete deletion audit or universal cross-device behavior through this page. If you request deletion, ask what is covered and how it is confirmed. This explicit boundary is more useful than assuming that removing an app erases every record held elsewhere.

Where Nelby fits
Nelby offers profile-informed content, not a guarantee of zero data processing. Read the app policy and ask about any non-negotiable requirement before using it. For an entirely self-contained reflection exercise, paper remains an option.
Nelby is the upcoming version of Éclo. The version currently available on the App Store is still called Éclo and offers subscriptions.
